We were Rockin' and Rollin'

Yes, we felt the earthquake here! It felt like a Mack truck hit the side of our house. I stood there thinking that the house had just shifted off of the foundation.

The kids and I were in the kitchen when it hit with a BOOM and I grabbed their hands and my head spun...at least that is how I felt. I was trying to figure out what to do. I wasn't scared, I was just trying to remember the safest place to go. I didn't know if it was under the dining table or along side the island (being that it is strong and stable...I do love the strong and stable type...but that is another story). Anyway, just as the second jolt hit our home we were crawling under the dining table. The Bella kept asking me when we would be going to Oma's house as she licked peanut butter off of her fingers. The Professor couldn't decide if he should smile or cry so he had this odd grimace on his face and pure terror in his eyes. Mind you, this is the boy who still asks me, "What was that?", when a plane flies over the house and we have lived near this flight path for two years! I explained the moving plates of the earth to him during the 40 seconds of shaking and then we crawled out.
I know how he feels. I was so freaked out by earthquakes as a kid. I am the running joke in my family to this day. Whenever we had an earthquake, no matter how minor, I would drag everyone out of bed (they were always at night in my memory) and into the hallway. My brothers hated me! So, I empathized with my overly sensitive Professor and I feel his terror. Nothing broke or fell from a shelf here. Hubs even had me check the gas line but it did not hiss at me so we are just fine. I just hope and pray that the earth does not rock and roll during the night because in the dark I may just turn into my old sissy self and freak out!

Glad you guys are okay. We were in the parking lot at Magic Mountain, but didn't feel the quake. My mom, who lives in Anaheim, said that it was a real shaker.
